My Very First Wedding Photoshoot many moons ago at Laborie Wine Estate, Paarl

There are some moments in life you never forget — and for me, this was one of them.

A few years ago, I had the privilege of photographing one of my very first couples’ shoots at the beautiful Laborie Wine Estate in the heart of Paarl. Looking back today, I still remember the excitement, nerves, and pure joy of capturing such a special chapter in two people’s lives.

The vineyards stretched endlessly around us, the soft evening light wrapped everything in warmth, and the peaceful atmosphere of Laborie created the perfect setting for timeless photographs. It felt almost unreal standing between the vineyard rows while this beautiful couple shared quiet moments together, completely lost in each other.

What makes this shoot even more meaningful to me today is knowing that the couple is still happily married years later. Their love story continued far beyond this photoshoot, and being able to freeze one small piece of that journey in photographs is something I will always treasure.

At the time, I was still discovering my style and learning how to tell stories through my camera. This session taught me that photography is not only about beautiful locations or perfect poses — it is about connection, emotion, and preserving memories that become more valuable with time.

One of my favourite things about photographing couples is seeing genuine love unfold naturally. There is something incredibly special about the little in-between moments:

• the quiet smiles,
• the gentle touch of a hand,
• the laughter after a kiss,
• and the comfort two people find in each other.

Those are the moments that matter most.

Laborie Wine Estate remains one of the most beautiful locations for couple and wedding photography in the Cape Winelands. The vineyards, mountain views, and golden sunsets create a romantic atmosphere that feels timeless and elegant in every season.

This shoot will always hold a special place in my heart because it reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place — capturing joy, love, and memories that families can look back on for years to come.

To this beautiful couple: thank you for trusting me during one of the first steps of my photography journey. Seeing your marriage still flourishing today makes these memories even more meaningful.
